Airtel’s and Jio’s Tensions Rose, As Starlink India Launch is Close, Satellite Will Provide Network Across Nation.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation that provides telecommunications services worldwide. It offers unlimited internet at 150 megabits per second (Mbps). Starlink is going to launch its services in India very soon, as of the report, which spreading tensions among India’s giant telecoms such as Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Airtel. Sever other rumours going on, let’s find out what’s the total matter.

The World’s richest man and founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink Elon Musk is going to introduce his Starlink satellite internet service in India and will have direct competition in market share of India’s telecom giants like Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Airtel, leading as top players in India’s telecom market.

As per the latest reports, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) received the recommendations for spectrum allocation for Starlink from TRAI on December 15 last month and is now charting out an allocation for Musk’s satellite broadband service.

This is a threat to all India’s telecom giants like Reliance Jio and Airtel and even Starlink’s entrance may swallow these key players. So, to maintain their position, these key players are in the race to launch their own satellite broadband internet services like Jio Satcom, and Airtel OneWeb, and Amazon is also entering the battlefield with Kuiper.

Within this war, key players like Mukesh Ambani-led Jio and Bharti Airtel have already completed their regulatory process for launching their satellite-based internet services but among these players, Elon Musk’s Starlink is going to be the first satellite broadband provider in India, as per the report.

As per the report, Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service is about to launch as early as February 2025. The Spectrum allocation is expected to follow the same process as the allocation model for 2G services. Musk’s satellite internet service will be providing unlimited wireless internet facility with a varying speed between 50Mbps to 150Mbps in the standard plan, and 220Mbps speed for premium users.

In comparison with the internet service offered by India’s major telecom providers, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Bharti Airtel, the service provided by Starlink is not only slower speed but also expensive what Starling seems to be offering on paper. The winner in this war will be exposed when they are on the battlefield and we will get to know them. Meanwhile, information came out Elon Musk’s led Starlink is being used by Smugglers.

Satellite devices from Elon Musk’s Starlink have reportedly been recovered in the hands of smugglers and insurgents in regions like Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Manipur. These devices facilitated navigation and communication among the smugglers, raising alarm within India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Department of Telecom (DOT).

The concern is raised as Starlink has refused to share users’ data. The MHA has urged the DoT to act, particularly after Starlink declined to provide details about device ownership. Investigations linked the devices to unlawful elements using them for navigation during a major drug haul and for communication in insurgency-affected areas.
