Elon Musk founder and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Says, “The offer of $1 billion to Wikipedia to change its name into ‘Dickipedia’ still stands. Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, grabbed the eyes of everyone worldwide last year 2023 when he offered Wikipedia $1 billion (Rs 8539 cr) to rename Wikipedia as ‘Dickipedia’.
This proposal still stands, as Musk confirmed in response to a post on X. A X user named DogeDesigner wrote, “Elon Musk once offered Wikipedia $1 billion to change their name to ‘Dickipedia”. In response to this post, Muk mentioned below, “True. Offer still stands”.
The last year 2023, Musk shared a photo which was from the Wikimedia Foundation with the caption, “Wikipedia is not for sale”. Musk criticized saying, “Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know…“.
Then, in another follow-up post, Musk wrote, “I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia”, adding that he would do so “in the interests of accuracy”.
As reported by the Times of India, “When a user responded with ‘@wikipedia, Do it!’ You can always change it back after you collect”, Musk responded, “One-year minimum. “I mean, I am not a fool, lol”.
