Recently, Zomato’s Blinkit launched Bistro, a 10-minute food delivery app to compete with Zepto Cafe, a quick commerce platform and a direct rival of Blinkit. Blinkit launched Bistro to dominate the quick commerce space and secure its position.
In a Strategic move to capture the Quck commerce space, Zomato’s quick commerce subsidiary Blinkit introduces ‘Bistro’, a fast delivery app that promises to provide Snacks, Meals, and Beverages within 10 minutes without compromising quality and hygiene.
Blinkit launched Bistro just after Zepto initiated and introduced Zepto Cafe in the fast-delivery space. It is now a great rival for Zepto Cafe and is hard for Zepto to beat. Currently, Bistro is available on the Google Play Store, and it’s promised to launch on the Apple Store very soon.
According to the Moneycontrol report, this is the second attempt by Zomato’s subsidiary company, Blinkit, to enter the fast food delivery space. Initially, it launched Zomato Instant, but it was shut down later for some reason.
Not only has Zomato’s subsidiary Blinkit launched its addition ‘Bistro’ in the quick commerce space, but Zepto, Swiggy, and Amazon have introduced their additions in the instant delivery space: Zepto Cafe, Swiggy Bolt, and Bolt, respectively. This rush is because according to data and business intelligence platform Statista, the online food delivery market in India is expected to give a revenue of Rs 3,71,298 Crore. This will project an annual growth of % 15.61 between 2024 to 2029, which is going to lead to a market valuation of Rs 7,66,937 crore.
This is the proof, Zepto reported that its ‘Cafe’ platform received 30,000 orders daily, and on the other hand, Swiggy mentioned that 5% of the total orders come from the ‘Bolt’ which delivers quick-to-prepare meals. In an interview with Moneycontrol, both Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and Swiggy CEO Shriharsha Majety mentioned that the food delivery sector is going to be the “Next Growth Frontier”.
Last month, Swish, a rapid food delivery giant, raised $2 million from Accel and a clutch of Angel investors to compete with the giant rivel Swiggy’s Bolt, Zomato Everyday, Blinkit’s Bistro, Zepto Cafe, Amazon’s Pilot, and others.
If we look at the grocery delivery sector, India is going to see significant growth, with revenue expected to increase by 30.7% in 2025. The market volume for grocery delivery is projected to increase to $30.65 billion at the end of 2024. If seen at the global level, china is going to dominate in online food delivery market, generating the highest revenue of $448.90 billion by 2024.
